AROUND 45% BUSINESS PEOPLE INSIST ON TAX LOWERING DUE TO COVID-19 – OPINION POLL
Many respondents maintain that it is necessary to postpone the deadline for payment of 2020 taxes and fees and to lower the taxes for companies, which keep paying salaries to employees.
Also, 35% poll participants proposed to introduce specific measures of support for branches they are specialized in, 30.5% – to provide concessionary credits, 21% – to allocate financial assistance, 18.6% – to establish a period of exemption from credit payment.
The opinion poll was carried out by the AmCham among 135 companies on March 30 through April 6. The research was presented to the Economic Council under Prime Minister and the Investment Agency, as well as was discussed in the Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure.
Minister Sergiu Railean said that the agency will analyze the possibility of developing programs of preferential treatment for subsidizing a part of interest rates or the guarantee of the largest share of the loan cost.
„We conducted negotiations with all international financial institutions for seeking new sources of support to businesses. They expressed readiness to extend and correct the mechanisms of financing entrepreneurs, which suffered from the pandemic crisis. The priority fields we focus on, are the small and average enterprises, as well as business in the affected branches“, he stressed.
